Before purchasing a wheel, check what size you need. The best way to do this is to get the size from the side of your tyre. Also, check how the wheel attaches, e.g. using bolt on with wheel nuts or quick release using a cam lever. If you’re looking for a rear wheel for a geared bike, you also need to make a note of how the cogs fit to your wheel. If you have 6 cogs or below, you’ll need a Free Wheel compatible wheel, but if you have 8 cogs or above you’ll probably need a Hyper Glide wheel. If you have 7 cogs, it could be either wheel.
You may need to take a picture of the centre of the cogs, or bring the wheel in so that we can advise you on which one you need. You’ll also need specific tools to remove the cogs from the old wheel and fit them to you new one. If you would like to have a go yourself, we can sell you the tools you need and advise you on how to us them. Alternatively, for a nominal charge, we can remove them and fit them to you new wheel for you.
